Bucking The Trend

Take one first time standardbred owner with a slew of thoroughbred connections. Add a local, hardworking trainer, a fluke credit card purchase from an estate auction, and a dash of fundraising initiative. Let simmer on ambition for the better part of a year and voila – one particularly press worthy pacer at the ready. Read on to meet Oldfriendskentucky – Ontario’s own cross-breed supporter – and the cast and crew of his making.

I just noticed dolly the dog in the picture she trains with all the horses goes ahead to make sure the track is cleared and sleeps in the barn with the cats no mice and a cheap alarm ......

Good luck to the connections, better luck leaving the gate next time . . . .

I would just like to thank Keith for an excellent piece and of course standardbred Canada. By doing what we are doing has introduced a whole new section of equine people to standardbred racing. We have is half sister in the barn and we are about to name her HRRN after Horse Racing Radio Network with whom I was part of the 2010 Eclipse award team. This will ensure a standardbred racing has a voice on a traditionally Thoroughbred Station. Stay tuned for more exciting news.......
