Northfield Park has announced that it will be lowering the takeout rate on its Pick 3, Pick 4 and Pick 5 wagers
effective April 1.
The said wagers will have a reduced takeout of just 14 per cent, which is a more than a one-third reduction from the previous rate.
A release from Northfield cites the track's executive vice president of Racing, Dave Bianconi, as saying that the move will increase pool sizes on the multi-race wagers.
Northfield is also participating in a joint program with the U.S. Trotting Association to guarantee $10,000 Pick 4 pools every Friday and Saturday in April.
Northfield's Pick 5 is a $1 wager conducted on Race 3 through 7 each live race night, while the Pick 4 is available on Races 8 through 11. The track offers Pick 3 wagers on Race 3 through 5, 6 through 8 and 9 through 11.
