Gold Cup & Saucer Fields Set

The draw for the trials to contest the 51st Gold Cup & Saucer transpired this morning at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park

Horse Player Interactive, Canada’s premier online and telephone wagering service, will allow their account holders to place wagers on the action during the Island’s biggest week of the year beginning on Thursday, August 12 and ending with the 51st edition of the Sobeys Gold Cup & Saucer on Saturday August 21.

For the first time in history of the 'Cup,' race management has received approval from Global Wagering Solutions and Ebet to allow account holders in the U.S. and Germany, access to the wagering pools. Officials are also working on agreements with Xpressbet and Racing2Day out of Tampa Bay, Florida. The Red Mile, in Lexington Kentucky, will also carry the signal showcasing one of the greatest shows in racing live from Prince Edward Island.

The Bell Aliant Race Day show will carry the evening cards to a worldwide audience with tracks in the Atlantic region also being able to place bets on the action throughout the week. Several Canadian tracks and teletheatres will showcase the event. The live broadcasts, scheduled for the evening cards, with the exception of the Sunday afternoon broadcast on August 15 at 1:00 p.m., will begin approximately 15 minutes prior to first-race post time.

Three trials are set for Saturday, Sunday and Monday with 19 horses competing for the richest and most sought-after prize in Atlantic Canadian harness racing.

The top three finishers in each trial will advance to the $60,000 final set for Saturday, August 21.
