Someheartsomewhere Wins Career Debut

Three-year-old pacing filly Someheartsomewhere made her career debut a winning one at a fitting time, just prior to the weekend of the first edition of the Somebeachsomewhere Stakes, which was formerly called the

Burlington Stakes and renamed this year in honour of the her World Champion full brother.

Following three qualifying wins for trainer Erv Miller, Someheartsomewhere made her pari-mutuel debut in an $8,500 maiden race for fillies and mares four years old and younger at Pocono Downs on Wednesday night. Driven by Matt Kakaley, Someheartsomewhere sat fifth through early fractions of :27.4 and :57.4 before making her move past the third marker in 1:26. The Mach Three-Wheres The Beach miss unleashed a :28.4 final quarter to come on for the 1:55.2 victory. Pocket-sitter Tanzanite Hanover (Andrew McCarthy) finished one and a quarter lengths behind in second and pacesetter Yes We Did (Jim Haggart Jr.) was third.

The $210,000 yearling purchase is owned by Ronald Michelon of Northbrook and John Carver of Rapids City, Illinois.

The Somebeachsomewhere Stakes for three-year-old colt pacers will be contested at Mohawk Racetrack on Saturday. Miller will send out Shadyshark Hanover (Post 4, Tim Tetrick) in the third and final $100,000 division.
