Four lifetime starts, and four lifetime wins is the Coles Notes version of what Keep It Real has accomplished so far in his career for owner Wayne Whebby of Dartmouth

, Nova Scotia.

The Pepsi North America Cup-prepping son of Real Artist – Magical Leah rallied to a career-best clocking of 1:52.3 in a conditioned assignment for three-year-old pacers on Monday evening at Mohawk Racetrack. Steve Condren mapped out the winning trip for the pacer who is being conditioned by Joey Shea after learning his early lessons in the stable of Truro, Nova Scotia-based trainer Emmons MacKay.

Keep It Real was two-lengths better than Ideal Race, a Pepsi North America Cup eligible who paced his own mile 1:53 for driver Mark MacDonald and trainer Tracy Brainard.

The eliminations for this year’s Pepsi North America Cup are scheduled for Saturday, June 20 with the $1.5 million final slated for Saturday, June 27 at Mohawk Racetrack.

As Keep it Real prepares for the 1.5 million dollar North America Cup for this Saturday night, back home in Truro, track management will be preparing a small get-together in support of this freshman 3 year old at Truro Raceway. After speaking with a number of fellow horsemen/horsewomen on Sunday at the races in Truro, many of them have made positive comments about Keep it Real's career thus far. They want him to win and will be cheering for him all the way! The MacKays and supportive others are all hoping that he can get the job done. It would be awesome! If so, that would mean two Maritime connections - two years in a row for the North America Cup - the richest race in Canada. He will have to earn it though; it won't come easy... as there are some very good first-class 3 year olds to compete against. There are a handful of them who have shown they can go in 1:50... but, is there enough in his tank to go a little more? Time will tell. I think there is a little more in that tank of his! As we are all aware, the draw is a factor and how the race develops is key too. We'll be cheering for him anyway... let's keep our fingers crossed for Keep it Real!
