Timberline Court kept his win streak in tact when he rallied from off the pace to prevail over pacesetter Neal Diamonique in the $10,000 Open Pace featured on Alberta Downs’ opening card Saturday afternoon.

Trainer-driver Gerry Hudon tucked Timberline Court into third behind his stablemate Kiawah (John Baxter) and Neal Diamonique, who set the pace with fractions of :29.3, 1:01.2 and 1:30.4. Hudon made his move just before the three-quarters mark and sent his charge home in :28.3 to prevail by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:59.3 over a track rated ‘good’. Skip To My Mjjz (Rod Starkewski) closed well from the trailing position to get third.

Timberline Court paid $2.80 to win as part of the favoured entry. The victory was the five-year-old With Held gelding’s fourth (consecutive) of the year in five outings and pushed his earnings to $24,440 for co-owners Hudon and R Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie, AB. Last year’s Battle of Alberta Super Final winner now boasts 18 career wins and $244,359 in earnings.

Alberta Downs’ first full season of racing will feature 50 race dates and will offer purses of more than $900,000.
