Late last week, Ontario New Democratic Party Leader Andrea Horwath took the opportunity to have a first-hand look at the provincial horse racing industry since the Ontario Liberal Party decided to hastily scrap the successful slots-at-racetracks program.

As reported by the Flamborough Review, Horwath took a tour of rural Flamboro with Essex NDP MPP Taras Natyshak and veteran horseman Jim Whelan.

In the report, Horwath described the fallout of the contentious decision as “The devastation of an entire way of life."

“It’s something that I think had anybody who made this decision had a chance to observe first hand, before they made it, they would never have made this decision," she said. "It doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.”

“It’s gone beyond anything I would have realized could happen in this country, all for the purposes of privatizing," Whelan was quoted as saying. "It’s just out of greed and there’s no accountability.”

Basically, she is saying what she did last year to pass the budget and allow this to happen, doesn't make any sense.

Nice.

This tour occurred last Friday the 10th of May. Obviously this was communicated to the Premier via the NDP's Horvath and was one of their demands in exchange for passing the budget. Thus the Wynne announcements Monday the 13th in regards to long term plans for the industry. What is very concerning is how out of touch can these liberals be when the opposition needs to point out to them damages that they are and have caused ? Where are the liberal MPP's ?

This was the same Horvath who had her party abstain from voting down last years budget. What she says means nothing. She threw this industry under the bus and is now pacifying it with visits like this and talking a big game. She took her ball and ran when this industry needed her help and now she is pretending to care for her own political agendas to try and get people to vote NDP if an election ever comes, which is sickening.

I didnt see that the NDP made this an inclusion they wanted for collusion with the Liberals. That's why I am all over the NDP
