Cardigan Conservative Candidate Mike Currie recently visited the Pinette Raceway, praising standardbred horse owners and trainers for the positive contributions they make to the Prince Edward Island economy.

“The harness racing industry employs hundreds of people in Eastern PEI. Their direct and indirect economic contributions are worth millions of dollars to our local economy,” said Currie, who has been a harness racing advocate, owner and fan for over 30 years.

As the Member of Parliament for Cardigan in the next Conservative Government, Currie said he is committed to building on the commitment of Stephen Harper to support hard working families in the agriculture sector.

“The Conservative Government has lowered taxes for hard working families, implemented programs for small business owners as well as for the agriculture industry. All of these programs have a positive benefit for the standardbred horse owners and trainers,” said Currie. “I have worked hard throughout my career to grow harness racing in this province and I will continue to do that as the MP for this area.”
