Driver Jody Jamieson went on a winning crusade Friday afternoon at Flamboro Downs racking up seven victories during the 12-race card as he chases the Canadian driving title for 2013.

An early season battle for the top spot in the Canadian drivers standings appears to be developing between the Moffat, Ont. reinsman and Billy Davis Jr., who are just a handful of wins apart atop the leaderboard. With his seven Flamboro victories in nine drives, Jamieson pushed his seasonal win total to 107 and only trails Davis Jr. by five heading into tonight's card at Woodbine Racetrack.

Jamieson, who is Canada's leading money winning driver so far this season, kicked off the afternoon card by sweeping the early Daily Double with sophomore pacer Brees Creek ($4.60) for trainer Barry Bird and three-year-old trotter Bloodstockshalltab ($3.90) for Ben Wallace.

He later won three consecutive races mid-card beginning in the fifth with the Andy Avery-trained grey pacing mare Lucky Lady Katie ($5.80) hanging on by a neck. Trotter V I P ($2.40), trained by Mike Wassilyn, and the maiden-breaking sophomore pacer Misson Earth ($3.90), conditioned by Blake MacIntosh, followed up that victory winning by a combined 10-3/4 lengths.

Jamieson wrapped up his afternoon with back-to-back victories in the 10th and 11th races. He notched his 6,500th career triumph with the Wallace-trained pacing mare Nics Regal Lass ($2.90) and then scored with trotter Strong Hope ($5.40), who recovered from an early break for trainer Joe Agostino.

Congrats Jody, job well done. People like Jody is why I continue to go to the races. To see the pure talent like his and enjoy the live racing first hand. Continue the great work Jody and thanks for the pure entertainment of live horse racing.

Not only did Jody win 7 races, he actively participated in a Standardbred Canada telephone conference between races. The man is a real renaissance man.
