Spill In Kawartha Qualifier

A four-horse spill occurred in Kawartha Downs’ fourth qualifying race on Saturday afternoon leaving driver Chad Winacott with a possible shoulder injury.

The accident occurred early in the race when Northern Icon (Kyle Balson) made a standstill break from third causing a chain reaction and taking out Stonehouse Rambam (Scott Cisco), Constant United (George Graham) and Obra Gopher (Chad Winacott). The qualifying race was declared a No Contest.

According to reports from Kawartha, Chad Winacott was the only driver injured and was sent to hospital with a possible broken shoulder. The horses involved suffered cuts and bruises, but otherwise were okay.

Chad had a dislocated shoulder but it was put back into place at the hospital.
