Trot Insider has spoken with Sharla Daley, operations administrator for the National Capital Region Harness Horse Association, for an update on Russ Moulton, who is currently in hospital after having sustained a scary injury at Rideau Carleton Raceway yesterday

.

Moulton, executive director of the NCRHHA, was in the Rideau backstretch yesterday morning before the qualifying session when the incident took place.

Daley told Trot Insider that Moulton was walking a horse from the parking lot to the paddock. The horse slipped on some ice and fell on Moulton, breaking one of the horseman's legs.

"He's being hospitalized at Ottawa Hospital, general campus, and is awaiting surgery," Daley told Trot Insider.

She explained that Moulton, a 63-year-old resident of Spencerville, Ont., was in and out of consciousness at one point, but now all is fine in that regard. Daley dispelled rumours about Moulton having sustained spinal injuries.

Trot Insider will provide updates on the situation when they are made available.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Moulton a speedy and complete recovery.
