Over $30,000 Raised For Rutter

Once again, the harness racing industry has been able to do some unbelievable for one of its own in a time of need.

The BC Standardbred Association has reported that in addition to the donations made by Ontario-based reinsmen Mark MacDonald and Rick Zeron at the November 11, BC Breeders Classic Day, Fraser Downs, the BCSA, trainers, drivers, owners, staff and fans boosted the fund raising tally for 12-year-old accident victim Cole Rutter to an amazing $31,836.73.

Rutter, the son of Fraser Downs trainer Carol St Amand, was seriously injured in an ATV accident in August.

Bake sales, silent auctions, driver fee donations, 50/50 raffles and community support all assisted in building the tally. Fraser Downs matched the drivers donations dollar for dollar.

Last year the Fraser Downs racing community also raised more than $20,000 for Emma Sheepwash who was battling cancer.
