Somebeachsomewhere, the favourite in Saturday’s Breeders Crown for three-year-old colt pacers, worked out Monday morning at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey.

Trainer Brent MacGrath drove the colt, who will race for the last time in the Breeders Crown before heading to the breeding farm. With a win Saturday, Somebeachsomewhere would pass Gallo Blue Chip’s $2.4 million in 2000 for the richest season of any pacer in history.

"He trained super,” MacGrath said. “I went a mile in two minutes and a bit. He was strong. He came home in :27 and a piece. He was steering good, pacing good. He seems sharp and ready to go. What else can you ask for? I’ll just jog him lightly, walk him, and try to keep him happy the rest of the week.

"We’re looking forward to his new career, too. I think he will be a tremendous sire. I think he’ll be as strong in the breeding shed as he was on the racetrack."

I hope Shadow Play beats him. Shadow Play is coming back as a four-year-old so why can't 'Beach? I'll tell you why - GREED! I would've liked to have seen these horses duel one another all next summer. And not just in upper Canada and the states, but in western Canada, thus setting up an incredible farewell race at the '09 Gold Cup and Saucer.

Go for the big one Beach, show the world what you can really do ...... good luck on your finally..............

Well Beach you gave me and millions your heart and soul. You came in as a champion and you're going out as one. You certainly gave me a joy just to watch you do what you are so good, it makes me very sad to see such a horse race his last race but I will treasure the memory and all I have to do is look at my wall and there he is looking the great one that he is .................. good luck Saturday.

Meadowlands Pace was one of greatest races of all time. The Beach had a brutal trip, did all the work, and Art Official caught him at the wire - 26 , 51 and 119 still amazing.

Go Beach at the crown , 147 would be nice.

He's a pacing machine! I saw him train in Truro this spring. I doubt there'll ever be another like him, nothing but class and raw power. I'm glad to see him go to the stud barn before he gets hurt or worse. Well done Brent and connections.

SO LONG BEACH

I NEVER EXPECTED TO SEE A "PACING" SECRETARIET BUT YOU MADE THAT HAPPEN FOR ME

enjoy this horse as he races his last mile,it will be a long time before we ever see a race horse pace the mile the way he did

well. I like how they have managed him so far but personally I run him again next year instead of breeding, taking the best horse out when knobody is even in his league, he is winning by 10-15 lenghts, hopefully we'll get to see some of his stalk just like somebeachsomewhere , what ever happens it was a good run, having a horse like somebeachsomewhere is every trainer and owner dream. BEST OF ALL TIME.

Hats off to Brent and his owners on the Management of the Beach! What a great year for the Horse racing Industry. We all wish the Beach the best on Saturday and proof that we don't have to dance in all the big events to lead the Industry in Money Winnings. I feel Brents commitment to the Beach and having him at the top his game every start will rewrite the trainers guide in years to come. Move over Tiger Woods, Harness Racing has a poster child.Horse racing will remeber The Beach for Many Years. We all await his first crop.

Is there any doubt that this horse will be horse of the year???
I have seen all of his races and let me tell you that even neophytes to the racing game can tell that this horse is special.
Please Brent, talk it over again with your partners and Hanover farm and bring him back as a 4 year old. The sport needs it so bad, the fans want to see him on the track with Shadow Play and Keystone Horatio, what fantastic races we could have!!!

all the best to the beach, big mac will get him across in a big way. monster mile for a monster horse

The best of 3 year old of all time. Would have loved too see him demolish a group of aged pacers. The Canadian Pacing Derby would have made him the best of all time, after all Artsplace won it and, hasn't he had a great stud career?

I thought Michael Jordan retired a little early but this is like Sid the Kid hangin em'up. Was the "Ten Million" price tag for everyone, maybe an offer to keep him racing would have been there?

Excellent job managing this horse until this decision.

The best horse racing in the Southern Hemisphere is a Mach Three colt out of a Sokys Atom mare....it is a pity these 2 great Mach Three colts do not get to race each other.

I'd like to see the Beach compete as a 4 year old,he's too good to put stud, come on give us a break and bring him back, harness racing needs him , he'll love it too.

He was in the jog cart, so a mile in 2:00 with a quarter in :27 is damn impressive. It would be different if it was the race bike, but that was in the damn jog cart.

c'mon Brent you put a better tightner than that into him!??!? Ok probably off a half in 1:06? Nice back half that will keep him sharp. All the best in the final.

YES ONE OF THE BEST PACERS OF ALL TIME A HORSE THAT MADE PEOPLE SIT UP AND TAKE NOTICE OF A TRUE CHAMPION.
I WISH YOU ALL THE BEST NEXT YEAR.
AND I HOPE TO SEE SOME OF HIS FOALS DOING WHAT HE DONE BEST AND THAT WAS PUTTING HARNESS RACING BACK ON THE WORLD STAGE.
