Tuesday Training

Published: September 4, 2008 08:18 pm EDT

Beach was real sharp and sound this morning, went a trip in around 1:56 with him, last half in :53. Just on air, felt awesome. Eating like a pig and feeling like a monster, he's all ready for a big effort in the Simcoe.

I've been around racing for 40 YEARS. Somebeachsomewhere is THE BEST pacer to ever walk on a track! Congratulations.

How is SBSW, Brent? Have the antibiotics worked and is he training well for his assualt on Red Mile? More than anything I and many other fans of harness racing want SBSW to go that 1:45 and some change mile in Lexington. I truly admire Brent for sticking to the game plan and hope he will have an opportunity to avenge his loss to Art Official. I don't have anything against Art Official, he is a fantastic horse and is conditioned well but I'm not the biggest fan of Ron Pierce. Finally, are there any plans to race him in the Breeder's Crown event at the Meadowlands and will he still race in the OSS Super Final this Fall? This certainly has been an incredible adventure for everyone who loves this sport and I would be hard pressed to find a better year for this sport, especially with likes SBSW, Dewey and Mister Big gracing the harness racing ovals of North America!

Why don't you please give an explanation as to why you are skipping the Jug? If you do not agree with its format, please make your views known so changes can me made for the future. I don't want to see another colt like SBSW miss Jugs in coming years.

Congratualtions on tonights win.

My renters name is Wade Hollett (the Neuf) he also said to say congratulations.

He told Paul to sit back and enjoy the ride and he still says that today.
He totally agrees with everything you said in the circle, except for one point you missed. You know yourself how the rail can affect any horse at Woodbine or Mohawk and still with those fractions, after being off for three weeks. He still is unbelievable. And like you said weather was a factor also.
As a watcher of SBSW Wade says to tell you he totally respects the way manage this horse and the public.
We all like to have one good horse and you deserve this one.
The smartest move you ever made was not entering this horse in the jug.
You know yourself as well as me how the Jug can demoralize a horse.+
Thanks for the opportunity of letting me have my picture taken with him in the winners circle of the elimination at Flamboro Downs.
Congratulations on the world record on the half mile track. And I hope you get more,,a man who is respected in my books for handling this caliber of horse and the way that you are..I hope you get every record that can be beaten.
Lets take the world on..
Good Luck.
Keep up the good work.
Say hi to Josh and all the best.

I would like to see Somebeachsomewhere in the Jug. The Little Brown Jug is a tradition of over 60 years and has always hosted the best 3 year old pacers in North America. The decision to skip the Jug is an attack on the crown jewel of harness racing's pacing triple crown. Canadian Hall of Fame horseman, John Hayes Sr, is known for having said that he would rather win the Jug than go to heaven. He wasn't talking about an ordinary race; he was talking about harness racing's version of the Kentucky Derby for pacers. SBSW was born in Ohio, and missing the Jug denies Stephanie Smith, the breeder, an opportunity to have her name engraved on Ohio's most prestigious harness racing trophy.

what day(s) do u plan on racing at Lexington........might make the trip

According to the NY Daily News article referenced here, "the son of Mach Three will go next in a division of the Simcoe at Mohawk (Ontario) Racetrack tomorrow night, followed by the Sept. 27 Bluegrass and Oct. 4 Tattersalls, both at Lexington's (Ky.) Red Mile."

Brent, Keep up the great work with the Beacher. I can't wait to see him in Kentucky and the BC. I would love to see him race on Jug Day. With the track surface being taken up and put down again it will be a speedway and I believe Beacher would pace in 48 on a decent day.

One thing I would like to ask Brent is how concerned are you with Beach's assault on the world record? It appears to me he is as sharp as an onion when he races frequently. Do you think he can maintain that sharpness from now until Lexington?

Good luck the rest of the way.
