When George Segal purchased a picturesque piece of land, just 25 minutes west of Lexington, close to 40 years ago, he never knew how big a name Brittany Farms would become in the North American Standardbred world. What he did know however, was that if he wanted to be successful, he needed to hire top-notch people, and he needed to listen to them. He did just that. Now though, following the 2024 sales season, Segal is selling the farm and its remaining mares. There’s talks with a possible buyer - a Canadian - but whether that happens or not, the legacy of Brittany Farms will live on for decades to come. By Chris Lomon.
