Horse Show In NJ This Sunday

The 2012 National Standardbred Horse Show will take place Sunday, September 9 at the Horse Park of New Jersey in Allentown.

The event is co-sponsored by SPHO-NJ, USTA and SBOANJ.

The show would is also supported by countless other sponsors and volunteers, a list SPHO-NJ would be happy to announce, but is far too long to mention. The sponsors and class list can be viewed here.

New to the show this year is the War Horse Division. In order to compete in the division, the standardbred horse must have made $200,000 in lifetime earnings or more then 100 lifetime starts. The show committee is very pleased to announce the following 10 horses that are competing in this division.

(There are four classes in the division)

• In Hand Class (sponsored by Cindy Victor)
• Two-Gait Pleasure Class - (sponsored by Phil DeVito and Bill Bena)
• Three-Gait Pleasure Class - (sponsored by John Maieron)
• In-Harness Class - (sponsored by thebayberryhorse.com)

The horse with the most points out of these four classes will be crowned the division champion and will receive a satin blanket, sponsored by the Meadowlands Racetrack.

The entries are:

  • Big Bikkies and Maria Andersson (18 lifetime starts, $201,014), winner of a heat of 2009 Kentucky Futurity
  • From One To Sixty and Erin Hamer (222 lifetime starts, $85,152)
  • Investor and Julie Allison (141 lifetime starts, $305,029)
  • Master Pine and Helene Gregory (128 + 1 under saddle lifetime starts, $634,289), Ohio-sired standout and Hambletonian RUS winner 2012
  • Our Lucky Killean and Jennifer Connor (263 lifetime starts and $1,281,344), Canadian superstar
  • Rare Jewel and Sara Waddon (253 lifetime starts, $1,339,844) 2005 Molson Pace winner
  • Ripped and Rob Pennington abd Caroline Green (142 + 2 under saddle starts, $694,802)
  • Slip N Slide and Denelle Stratton (77 lifetime starts, $858,239), Down Under performer
  • Southview Sabre and Jennifer Flanigan (337 lifetime starts, $521,500)
  • Won The West and Sarah Murphy (109 lifetime starts, $3,939,836), two-time Breeders Crown Champion and third-richest pacer in history

The show will start at 8:00 a.m. The SPHO-NJ is looking forward to seeing these champions, as well as many other equine athletes and equestrians there.
