Jug Society Approves Change In Future Draws

The Little Brown Jug Society board of directors announced today that it unanimously approved a change in Little Brown Jug and Jugette conditions effective in

2010.

Current conditions require splits for a set number of entries. These conditions have been eliminated, and race officials now will determine splits based on the number of entries. Notices will be sent to all owners of 2010 Jug and Jugette eligibles requesting their approval for 2010.

Society directors are very concerned at having to set nine and 10 horse divisions for the 2009 race. Directors would have liked to have split the 19 entries into three divisions, but current conditions did not permit that. With the proposed change race officials will have that flexibility. If there are two divisions, the top four finishers from each division will return for the second heat. If there are three divisions, the top three finishers will return.

These changes will be published and all Jug and Jugette eligibles in 2010 will be contacted for their approval.

The directors also appointed a committee to explore changing the maximum number of entries allowed for both the Jug and Jugette. The committee’s goal is to review current conditions and determine if any changes should be made in the maximum number of entries allowed. If changes are made they will be announced later this year so that they will be in effect for 2012.
