Eight Horse Hitch At Western Fair Tonight

One of the highlights of today’s Western Fair attractions will be another first

.

Western Fair and London’s St. Clair Mechanical are proud to present the magnificent Shanahan Belgian Eight Horse Hitch to race fans.

Prior to the 6:30 p.m. first-race post time, the team will be driven around the track in a display of impressive showmanship.

The award-winning Belgians will be driven by Kevin Shanahan, assisted by his father, Tim. One of the horses on the team – the left-hand wheel horse – was last year’s All-Canadian and All-American gelding.

Putting together a hitch of eight horses is just as entertaining as watching the team being driven. It takes more than two hours for a team of people to prepare the horses.

If you don’t catch the Shanahan Belgians at the opening of tonight’s live harness races, stop by the Agriplex and see them during the Heavy Horse Hitch Parade daily at 5:30 p.m.
