Post Position Key In Red Shores Feature

Despite having the fastest times on the page, the far outside post could complicate things for the favourite in the Thursday evening featured event at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

First race post time is 6:30 p.m. for the 12-dash program with Doing Some Damage favoured in the featured $2,100 Joe Fogarty Memorial Pace that goes off as Race 11 on Thursday evening at the Capital oval. Brian MacPhee is driving Doing Some Damage for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Kent Livingston of Cornwall.

The seven-year-old son of Cole Muffler has yet the hit the winner’s circle on the East Coast but shows every mile in 1:55-1:56 since relocating from the Quebec circuit. The difficulty of Post 8 could leave the door open for tough campaigner Eagle Jolt to get the job done from post 1 for trainer-driver Marc Campbell and owners Wilbur and Marie MacDonald of Orwell Cove. A three-race win streak will also be in play as Casimir Luciano (Jason Hughes) had been undefeated the entire month of July and draws post 6.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac thinks post position will be key and gives the nod to Eagle Jolt.

“He’s got rail control coupled with a great finishing kick, which can be a dangerous combination,” MacIsaac said. “There’s a pretty good chance he can sit and stalk all the way from here and if so, he’s quite possibly the one to beat.”

Other entries include My Lucky Killean (Ken Murphy), Tempo Seelster (Todd Walsh), D Bs Rosco (Kenny Arsenault), Likely To Win (Gilles Barrieau) and Dusty Lane Arby (Corey MacPherson).

The top trot class on the program lines up in Race 4 for a $1,650 purse with former Maritime Champion Tyne Valley as the classifier’s choice from post 2. Walter Cheverie will drive the four-year-old daughter of Northern Bailey for trainer William Roloson, who co-owns with Scott Roloson and Kristin Pickering.

Other top entries in the field of seven include Hopedale Dora (Joey Pineau) and Phantom Beau (Mark Bradley).
