The Race Track Industry Program’s annual Symposium on Racing & Gaming, to be held December 6 – 9, 2010, this year becomes the permanent home for a number of industry events including Harness Tracks of America’s Annual Meeting, The NTRA Annual Meeting and the
NTRA Marketing Summit.
“By scheduling their meetings in conjunction with the Symposium, organization leaders take advantage of having a large number of industry representatives already in attendance, providing opportunities for discussion of issues and sharing of ideas between tracks, jurisdictions and suppliers. In this day and age, it makes even more sense to have everyone at the same place at the same time,” said Doug Reed, Director of the Race Track Industry Program.
Additional meetings and events scheduled during the 2010 Symposium include:
• the International Tote Protocol Group - an international working group that looks at issues and solutions to problems regarding the protocol for merging international pools
• the Turf Publicists of America’s presentation of the Mark Kaufman Workshop
• the Big Sport of Turfdom Award
• the Jockeys’ Guild Annual Assembly
• the RCI Model Rules Committee
• the ARCI Board of Directors and a roundtable discussion with ARCI and Jockeys’ Guild members
The Symposium attracts attendees from around the globe with its cutting-edge topics and trends of importance to the pari-mutuel industry. Panels sessions slated for the 2010 Symposium on Racing & Gaming include:
• International Simulcasting – How to better position your product for international customers.
Advances in Technology – What can IPTV do for you?
• Dale Dauten: Innovation and Leadership - A follow up to the 2009 workshop that received excellent reviews from Symposium attendees
• Small ADWs – The who, what, how and strategies of the boutique providers.
• California Dreamin’ – Is the dream still alive? A look at the state of racing in California.
The Monmouth Park Experience – Since there’s been a “race over the track” so to speak, was less really more in the summer of 2010?
• Looking at Racinos – The issues affecting the “have” and “have-not” tracks.
The University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry Program offers both a Bachelors and Masters degree program with an emphasis on the pari-mutuel racing industry and hosts the annual Symposium on Racing & Gaming held every December in Tucson, Arizona.
