Soccer Hanover Looks To Score Again

Fresh off a dominating performance this past weekend during Gold Cup and Saucer Week, Soccer Hanover will lead the way in the featured pace on a special Wednesday evening card (August 26) at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway.

The Prince County oval has 13-dash card that is slated to start at 6 p.m. Soccer Hanover is scheduled to line up in Post 5 for Race 12, which will carry a purse of $2,450.

Soccer Hanover and driver Corey MacPherson will face a compact field of pacers and are coming in to the assignment off of a five-length, 1:53.4 victory in his last start. Soccer Hanover is co-owned by trainer Leith Waite along with Les and Spencer Waite. The six-year-old son of Dragon Again has made four trips to the winner’s circle in 2020 and has 16 lifetime wins from 99 starts.

Maritime champion Heart And Soul has been on top of his game this season and will host Jason Hughes in the race bike from Post 4 in the top event for trainer George Riley. Paris Beau scored a narrow upset in the Wal and Joe Hennessey Memorial in Charlottetown last week and will see Gilles Barrieau pick up the catch drive for trainer Doug Beckwith of New Brunswick. Brandons Glory (to be driven by Dale Spence) has rail control and Mantario will reunite with Brodie MacPhee from Post 2.

The 'Backstretch Beat' has picked Soccer Hanover as the top choice. “Soccer Hanover draws the outside but the short field should make that a non-issue. After that 1:53 and change performance in his latest there is no doubt the road to the winner’s circle goes through him.”

The evening's $2,200 'back-up pace' will line up for Race 10. Howmac Magic will have rail control for driver Barrieau, trainer and co-owner Paul Biggar of Tyne Valley and co-owner Donald Callbeck of Kensington. The son of Articulator will be in search of his seventh career victory. Also in the back-up class, Flowersonthebeach (Ken Murphy) will start from Post 2, and in a harness racing oddity will race against his sire, Varadero Hanover (David Dowling), who will start from Post 4. Brothers Jeff and Devon Wallace train the pacers, respectively.
