Woodmere Stealdeal Looking For More

Published: August 18, 2020 10:10 am EDT

With a trio of track records in his rear view mirror, Woodmere Stealdeal will make his first appearance at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park on Wednesday evening (August 20) as part of Gold Cup and Saucer Week racing.

The 10-dash program has a 7 p.m. first-race post time, and Woodmere Stealdeal is set to start from Post 6 in Race 10.

The $12,980 Atlantic Sires Stakes two-year-old pacing colt division will see Woodmere Stealdeal as the morning line favourite while riding his five-race undefeated streak for driver Marc Campbell, trainer Danny Romo, and Nova Scotia owners Kevin Dorey and Robert Sumarah. A track record holder at Red Shores Summerside Raceway as well as Northside Downs and Inverness Raceway, Woodmere Stealdeal will face off against seven foes on Wednesday. His main competitors will be Post 1 starter Rotten Ronnie (to be driven by Redmond Doucet) and Moneyorroses (Steven Shepherd).

The 'Post Time Picks' for Wednesday’s card have Woodmere Stealdeal as the most probable winner of the day. “May be the greatest Maritime-bred two-year-old of all time with three track records from five lifetime starts. There is nothing that can touch him if his upward trend continues.”

The other $12,980 Atlantic Sires Stakes rookie colt division has been programmed as Race 8 and Dustylanegoliath is the top choice from Post 5 for trainer-driver Gilles Barrieau. The Steelhead Hanover freshman was third his last start to Woodmere Stealdeal while pacing in 1:56.1 over Summerside. Mr Rielly was a 1:58.2 victor that same day and will again team up with trainer Corey MacPherson. Dollars And Spence (Kenny Arsenault) is the third early choice from Post 2.

Silverhill Buddy is the favourite in the Affleck Family Memorial Pace (Race 5) for driver David Dowling and trainer Dave Myers.

The Maryjane Arsenault Memorial Pace (Race 3) will feature a field of eight pacing mares. Elm Grove Misty is the top early choice and will start from Post 6 for trainer-driver Dave Kelly Sr.
