Regional Driving Championship Contest Winners

The I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club is pleased to announce the winners of the Western, Atlantic, and Eastern Ontario / Quebec Regional Driving Championship Online Handicapping Contests.

The Fan Club would like to congratulate Jerry Foster of Surrey, BC., for winning the Western Regional Contest with 11 out of a possible 20 points; Adam Mauntah of Ottawa, Ont., for winning the Atlantic Regional Contest with 17 out of 20 points; and Harry Wills of Melbourne, Ont., for winning the Eastern Ontario / Quebec Regional Contest with 12 out of 20 points.

Congratulations to our three winners who have each won a $50 gift certificate to the Canadian harness racetrack of their choice, a Fan Club swag package, and an official RDC cap.

WESTERN REGIONAL

Answer: Dave Hudon captured the first leg of WRDC in 1:59.3 with Itchin To Cu.

Jerry’s Selection: Leg 1 (Century - Race #3)
Answer: Leg 7 (Century – Race #5) had the fastest finish time with Camita B And E finishing the race in 1:59.1 with Jamie Gray in the bike.

Select the WRDC race that will have the greatest margin of victory. (3 points)
Jerry’s Selection: Leg 1 (Century - Race #3)
Answer: Leg 4 (Century – Race #6) had the greatest margin of victory with Take On Da Boys finishing ahead of her opponents by four and a quarter.

Jerry’s Selection: Kelly Hoerdt
Answer: Hoerdt, used a win in the fourth leg with Take On Da Boys and two second-place finishes to land at the top of the standings with 46 points.

Answer: Gray, used a win with Camita B And E in the fifth leg, as well a second-place finish and a third-place finish to take runner-up honours overall with 43 points.

ATLANTIC REGIONAL

Adam’s Selection: Post 4
Answer: Three of eight races were won from Post 4: Races 1,2 & 4.

Adam’s Selection: Redmond Doucet
Answer: Redmond Doucet captured the first leg of the ARDC in 2:00 flat with C J Bluefin.

Adam’s Selection: Race 6 (Truro - Race #6)
Answer: Race 6 (Truro – Race #6) Jeb, the 3-5 favourite stopped the clock in 1:57 with Jason Hughes in the bike.

Select the ARDC race that will have the greatest margin of victory. (3 points)
Adam’s Selection: Race 5 (Truro - Race #5)
Answer: Race 2 (Truro - Race #2) Ten-year-old Sock It To Em pulled away to win by more than seven lengths in a lifetime-best-equalling 1:58.1.

Adam’s Selection: Gilles Barrieau
Answer: Gilles Barrieau won the ARDC after being victorious in three of eight legs and finishing the competition with 72 points.

Answer: Redmond Doucet finished the competition with 61 points and will advance to the National Driving Championship for his first time.

EASTERN ONTARIO / QUEBEC REGIONAL

Answer: Three of six races were won from post 1: Races 1,3 & 7.

Harry’s Selection: Nicholas Boyd
Answer: Nicholas Boyd won the first leg of the EOQRDC with Gramps finishing in 1:54.

Select the EOQRDC race that will have the fastest finish time. (3 points)
Harry’s Selection: Race 3 (Kawartha - Race #5)
Answer: Race 3 (Kawartha - Race #5) had the fastest finish time with Lyons William finishing the race in 1:53.3, earning Jonathan Lachance his first win on the evening’s card.

Select the EOQRDC race that will have the greatest margin of victory. (3 points)
Harry’s Selection: Race 1 (Kawartha - Race #1)
Answer: Race 1 (Kawartha - Race #1) Gramps pulled away to win by more than eight and a half lengths with Nicholas Boyd In the bike.

Select the driver that you think will win the EOQRDC. (4 points)
Harry’s Selection: Reg Gassien
Answer: Taking the lead into the fourth round, Guy Gagnon held the top spot on the standings and claimed victory in the final race to take the EOQRDC. Gagnon finished the competition with 49 points.

Harry’s Selection: Nicholas Boyd
Answer: Brosseau finishing second in the competition with 41 points has advanced to the NDC for his first time.

Here are the eight drivers who will compete in the 2018 NDC at Grand River Raceway on Wednesday, September 26:

The winner of the 2018 NDC will have the opportunity to represent Canada in the World Driving Championship (WDC) and join 2017 World Driving Champion James MacDonald in the 2019 WDC in Sweden.
