Raymond Demers Passes

A funeral service will be held Saturday for former horseman Raymond Demers, 85, of Plessisville, Quebec, who passed away on Sunday (July 9) after a long illness.

Demers, father-in-law of Hippodrome 3R`s director of operations, Francois Carignan, had been a driver and trainer in the `70s, `80s and `90s, active at racetracks in Quebec City, Trois-Rivieres and Sherbrooke.

He is survived by wife, Yvette Prince, and children Johanne, Danielle, Richard, Maryse and Christine. He was predeceased by daughter Paule.

Visitation will be Friday afternoon (July 14) and evening and early Saturday (July 16) at Salon Funeraire Francois Marie Rousseau, 1938 St. Louis Ave., Plessisville, with the funeral service scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Eglise St-Calixte.
