This weekend’s Bring A Friend National promotion is an organized effort, coordinated by Standardbred Canada and ten enthusiastic partner racetracks across the country to offer you a golden opportunity loaded with great on track experiences for you to introduce harness racing to friends and family who’ve never been to the races.
It’s not too late to take part! You are the most important part of this initiative because it’s your connection to harness racing that drives this promotion!
Bring A Friend kicks off tonight at Grand River Raceway in Elora, Ontario and will wrap up Sunday afternoon at Alberta Downs in Lacombe, Alberta. Post time for the first race tonight at Grand River is 6:30 p.m.The evening features draws for behind the scenes experiences, free programs, prize draws and a Media Harness Race.
Tomorrow afternoon, racing at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, New Brunswick and Northside in North Sydney, Nova Scotia will get underway at 1 p.m. EPR’s activities include draws for behind the scenes experiences, free programs, a bbq, handicapping workshop, meet the drivers and bouncy pony races. Northside Downs features draws for behind the scenes experiences, food offers and prize draws.
Saturday night’s BAF racing action kicks off at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park in PEI at 6:00 p.m., Georgian Downs in Innisfil, Ontario, at 7:05 p.m. , Hanover Raceway, Hanover, Ontario at 7:15 p.m., and Mohawk Racetrack in Campbellville, Ontario, at 7:25 p.m.
Red Shores, Georgian and Mohawk will have prize draws, free programs and free $2 bets; Hanover’s season opener will have prize draws.
Sunday afternoon action gets underway at Alberta Downs in Lacombe, Alberta, with a 1:15 p.m. post time. Red Shores at Summerside’s first race goes postward at 1:00 p.m. and the horses line up behind the starter for the first of 12 races at Truro Raceway in Truro, Nova Scotia at 1:30 p.m.
Alberta Downs and Red Shores are offering draws for behind the scenes experiences, free programs, free $2 bets, and prize draws. Truro will have prize draws, tip sheets, food discounts and more!

Aside from all of the different activities and offers, the most important component of the BAF promotion is you – the racing fan, horse owner, industry participant. Your connection to racing and your ability to show your friends the ropes, explain what goes on at the races, and educate your friends is the most important part of this promotion.
