CNE's ‘HorseCapades’ To Return

The fun of the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE) gallops into Toronto early with ‘HorseCapades,’ a delightful and interactive program that introduces fans of all ages to the wonder of horses.

In its 10th consecutive year, HorseCapades returns to the CNE beginning July 27 at the Horse Place, Exhibition Place. It offers visitors the chance to pet and feed horses, learn about grooming and shoeing, guess a horse’s weight, meet a mare and foal, as well as enjoy a horse-drawn wagon ride.

New this year, HorseCapades is expanding to include a spectacular trick-riding show, ‘HorsePower Live!,’ debuting on July 27. Set to original music, HorsePower Live! showcases the pageantry, power, and precision of riders and horses performing remarkable feats such as barrel racing, trick riding, roping, and hip hop dressage in the Horse Palace Ring.

“HorseCapades and HorsePower Live! bring the enchantment of horses to the heart of the city,” says David Bednar, CNE general manager. “Families don’t have to travel far to enjoy a taste of the rural life and get up close with one of nature’s most intelligent animals. It’s fun, educational, and a great way to spend the day indoors – not to mention it’s free for everyone!”

Also new to the HorseCapades programming is ‘Kids AgVenture,’ an interactive area consisting of five barn-like tents that allow young children to learn hands-on what it takes to be a farmer. From harvesting grain, to collecting eggs, and milking cows, kids can gather and sell their ‘pretend’ crops at the farmers market in exchange for an AgVenture colouring book.

HorseCapades is truly a fun and affordable outing for the entire family, individuals and groups to escape the city life. Groups of 10 or more people are asked to make reservations by emailing [email protected], or go to www.TheEX.com for more information.
