An Ontario invader will face off with the best pacing mares in the region in her first local test Thursday night at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Doober Hoozzitz is a new addition to the Thane Mann stable with Terry Gallant listed to drive in the race 11 feature. Fred Lamont of Calgary owns the eight-year-old daughter of Raleigh Fingers, who had been racing at Western Fair Racetrack in London, Ont.

J K Special will look to keep her winning streak intact in the eight horse $2,200 event but has drawn the dreaded Post 8 for owner-trainer Joe Smallwood of Stratford. Mylittlerebel has the rail advantage for driver Mark Bradley, trainer Pat Murphy and owners Russell and Karen Noonan and Noonan Holdings of Middleton. Other entries include newcomer Barefoot Contessa (Marc Campbell), Ovation Killean (Vaughn Doyle), Private Joke (Gary Chappell), Too Ideal (Brian Andrew) and Rose Vance (Katie Miller).

First race post time is 7 p.m. for Thursday’s 12-dash affair.

The back-up class is slated for Race 7 with Balanchine finding his way out of the preferred but drawing Post 6 in the six-horse race. Brodie MacPhee will drive the veteran pacer for owners Mike Pollard of Stratford and Joey Gallant of Charlottetown. The compact group also has Le Fugueur (Campbell), Lisfinny (Gallant), Artners In Crime (Ron Matheson), Brief Bliss (Stephen Quinn), and Capitalism (Jason Hughes).

The $1,300 trot class goes in Race 4 with former Atlantic Sires Stakes champion Scarlet Patti favoured from Post 4 in the seven-horse field.

The six-year-old mare is owned by Gordon MacLean and trained and driven by Darryl MacLean of Winsloe. She will face off with Anita Blossom from Post 2, who has the services of driver Brian MacPhee for owner-trainer Ambyr Campbell of Charlottetown. Post 6 belongs to Tymal Tyme who was a winner Saturday night in Charlottetown in 2:07.2 over a rain soaked track for driver Willie Murphy, trainer Cindy MacDonald and owner Tessa MacKinnon of Souris. The field also includes Hopedale Dora (Joey Pineau), Duvar Road (Norman Myers), BJ High Meadow (Bert Honkoop), and BJ Eldorado (Kenny Arsenault).

The race 12 finale has Albert Town attempted to keep his undefeated East Coast streak alive for owner-trainer Jonah Moase of Cornwall. The classy 12-year-old son of Albert Albert has Cheverie in the bike but is saddled with Post 7.

Racing action continues Saturday night at 6 p.m. at Red Shores Charlottetown and Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway, which will feature the Ruby Chappell and Bob Dewar stakes for three-year-old pacers.
