The Harness Horse Youth Foundation has announced one of the most extensive program schedules in the foundation’s history, with over 20 events scheduled in 10 states.

Complete schedule information, along with applications for the Foundation’s Youth Camps and one and two-day events, is available here.

HHYF’s popular overnight youth camps, for students 12-14, will be held July 10-13 at Goshen Historic Track in New York; July 16-20 at Vernon Downs; and July 23-27 at Pocono Downs in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. A leadership camp for high school age students is set for Goshen Historic Track for July 8-13. For the first time ever, leadership camp participants will assist youth campers as part of their experience. These camps feature hands-on experience, including driving, using the organization’s stable of trottingbred horses.

Shorter, introductory programs for children 11 and up are set for Maywood Park in the Chicago area on June 22; Running Aces Harness Park, north of Minneapolis/St Paul on June 25-26; the Indianapolis area on June 29; Scioto Downs, in Columbus, Ohio, on July 2; Harrington Raceway in Delaware on July 7 and Gaitway Farms in New Jersey on August 1.

HHYF will also conduct special programs for the Lexington Catholic High School Equine Program; 4-H groups in New Jersey, New York and Kentucky and Girl Scout groups in New Jersey. The foundation, which is dedicated to creating the next generation of harness racing fans, will also have a presence at the Pinehurst Matinee, the Little Brown Jug, the Hambletonian at the Meadowlands, the Open Space at Freehold Raceway and at the Red Mile on Kentucky Futurity day.

“Summers are always busy for HHYF, but this year we’re covering a lot of territory before and after peak season as well," said executive director Ellen Taylor. "Our work is important and we are continually blessed to have such great support from our sponsors which allows us to increase our range in terms of locations, age groups, and level of educational value too."
