Trot Insider has learned that horseman John Simo passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, April 12 at Hospice Simcoe in Barrie, Ont.
He was in his 77th year.
Beloved husband of Marie (nee Pilkey). Loving father of Brian Pilkey of Edenvale and Reg Simo and his wife Gail of Barrie. Cherished Grandad of Chelsea. Dear brother of Irene Lengyl of Delhi, Ontario and the late Mike Simo.
Sadly missed by sister-in-law Gail Simo of Angus and nieces Elizabeth Vernon of Guelph, Irene Duffy of Burlington, Annette West, Linda Melenhorst and Cindy Simo all of New Lowell.
Friends will be received at the Jennett Chapel of the McClelland & Slessor Funeral Home, 152 Bradford Street in Barrie on Friday, April 15 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Service in the chapel on Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment Ebeneezer Cemetery, Stayner.
