Trot Insider has learned that longtime horseman Ron Mairs of Chatham, Ont. passed away on Saturday, March 21 at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Ron was a driver, trainer, owner and breeder who raced many horses under the Gemaline farm name.
Ron is survived by his wife Juliette, daughter Janine (Doug Bedford) and son trainer Paul (Tami), plus his four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Arrangements have not yet been made, but Trot Insider will update this note when details are available.
