Island Standardbred Mixed Sale Details

Published: October 15, 2009 10:51 am EDT

The Island Standardbred mixed sale will be held in Crapaud, at the Agriplex, during the afternoon of Saturday, October 17. The sale, featuring broodmares, yearlings and

young racehorses, will start at 12:00 noon with a sale of equipment preceding the sale of horses.

Among the standout entries are mares by top North American sires like Jate Lobell, Artsplace, Precious Bunny, No Nukes and Northern Luck. There are several stakes winning and stakes placed young mares which offer the buyer a double opportunity to race or to breed. Four yearlings will also be for sale. Several aged race horses will be available for purchase and others are expected to be added, including a number of racehorses from Quebec, with entries accepted until Friday.

Summary catalogues of the 30 horses currently consigned are available at the Harness Racing PEI office and full pedigrees can be downloaded online at the website of the PEI Harness Racing Industry Association.

All horses will be on hand for viewing by 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the venue which is situated in the new horse barn behind the Crapaud arena. Auctioneer Bob Craswell will handle the bids and the afternoon promises to be an entertaining and profitable event for the lucky buyers.

Sales manager Norman Hall believes that the broodmares on offer are as good as any he has ever seen sold on PEI.

“You can go to Harrisburg in two weeks time and pay $10,000 plus for mares of this quality,” Hall said.

Among the mares for sale is a three quarter sister to the great sire Camluck.
