Century Mile Racetrack and Casino has cancelled live harness racing for Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13 due to the extreme cold temperatures forecasted in Edmonton, Alta. for the weekend.
Century Mile announced the cancellation on its social media channels and noted that, "The health and safety of our horses and horsemen are our top priority. We appreciate your understanding."
As of Tuesday, Jan. 9, Environment Canada has forecasted temperature lows of -36 for Friday and -30 for Saturday.
The next scheduled race date is Friday, Jan. 19.
