On Wednesday, January 11, Buffalo Raceway’s season-opening feature event will be the $10,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace, which has been carded as Race 5.

The program is the first night of the 75th anniversary season at Buffalo Raceway where 90 days of racing will take place through Sunday, July 23.

The initial 2017 card will have 10 races. First-race post time is scheduled for 5 p.m.

A classy but select field of six will nuzzle up behind the starting gate for the feature. Wanna Rock N Roll was assigned Post 6 and has been installed as the 2-1 morning line choice.

After having won her last three starts at Batavia Downs to close out the season, Wanna Rock N Roll and driver Drew Monti will be looking to kick off the 2017 campaign with a bang. A winner of 10 races and over $71,000 last year, the six-year-old mare (Rock N Roll Hanover-Cams Leading Lady) produced a 1:54.3 victory at Yonkers Raceway in 2016.

Her main competition could come from Who Says That, who was a 12-time winner last season. Shawn T. Gray will be aboard the six-year-old mare (Badlands Hanover-Powercorp). Who Says that earned just a shade under $67,000 last year and was in the money 27 times in 40 tries. She drew Post 4 and has been tabbed at 4-1.

The remainder of the field includes Tiger Boudoir (to be driven by Truman Gale), My Tallia Ideal (David McNeight III), Warrawee Qually (Larry Stalbaum) and Aritzia Hanover (Ben McNeil).

Free magnetic schedules will be given out on Wednesday night while Friday features the popular fish fry dinner along with the 2016 Awards Presentations. The week of action will conclude on Saturday with a 75th Anniversary Commemorative Exacta Coin giveaway.

Each coin with have an exacta combination on the back and should it come in from the second until the tenth race, you'll get to spin the Cash Wheel for free wagers on the 12th race. Also, everyone picking up a coin will receive $10 in free play at Hamburg Gaming.

Post time on Friday is 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday.
