Another night of close finishes and world-class harness racing is on the menu Tuesday evening (Jan. 5) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Capital oval has 11-dashes lined up with a 6 p.m. (AST) opening post time. The top class of the night hits the track in Race 10 for a $2,600 purse, with Creepin controlling the pylons for trainer-driver David Dowling and owners Alex Quinn of York, Jim Quinn of Vernon Bridge and Carl Peterson of Hunter River. The seven-year-old son of Mach Three just put the finishing touches on his 2020 season with a third-place finish on New Year’s Eve. Creepin won six races from 27 starts in that calendar year, good for $13,079 in purse earnings.

Rockin Indy holds down post 4 with Corey MacPherson at the controls of the 31-time winner for owner-trainer Troy Murray of Clyde River. The pacer was a game second to newcomer Chocolate Swirl in the 2020 finale last week. Sports Royalty leaves from post 5 in the field of six for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Wendy MacRae of Belfast.

Peter MacPhee with the Post Time Picks selects Sports Royalty for the win position. “Sports Royalty had a great a 2020 season with seven victories and a record of 1:55.3,” MacPhee said. “He gets post five tonight and is always in the mix so we’re confident Gilles maps out a trip and they reach up to get the gold.” Also in the featured field are Legendary Ron (To be driven by Myles Heffernan Sr.), Young Drunk Punk (Adam Merner) and Winter Blast (Ken Murphy).

Y S Suzanne makes her East Coast debut in the Race 5 Open Trot for driver Jason Hughes and owner-trainer Jennifer Doyle of Vernon Bridge. The $2,350 class has the eight-year-old Angus Hall mare leaving from the outside post 5 in the compact class after last racing at Flamboro Downs in Ontario on Dec. 20, finishing second that day from the Terry Gallant stable. Other top Open trot entries are Labero (Barrieau) and Freddie (Merner).
