P.E.I. Hall Nominees Being Accepted

The P.E.I. Sports Hall of Fame has issued a call for nominees for the hall’s 2018 inductions.

The induction ceremony and dinner, which is scheduled for this coming summer, will honour the athletes, builders, or teams that the Island has produced. The nomination deadline is Saturday, March 31.

As an article by the Journal Pioneer explains, athletes and builders must have either been born on the Island or have been considered a resident for at least four years at the height of their sporting career.

In terms of the ‘builder’ category, it is required that the nominee must have put in no less than 10 years of outstanding service. When it comes to the ‘athlete’ section, the nominee has to have been retired for at least five years (or five years ‘past their athletic peak’). In order for a squad to be nominated in the ‘team’ category, it has to have reached noted success either regionally or nationally.
