After the qualifying session scheduled for Tuesday afternoon was washed out at the Olds Racetrack in Alberta, the weather cooperated on Wednesday as eight dashes went postward.

Barona Fivehundred turned in the quickest session of the afternoon for driver Lou MacMillan. The four-year-old Northern Dynasty gelding sat third through panels of :30.3, 1:02.3 and 1:35.1. Barona Fivehundred rode second-over cover in the final three-eighths and closed in :29.2 to post a quarter-length victory in 2:05.1.

In 12 starts this season, the gelding has three wins and earnings of $19,378 for partners Bill Boden and Monica Hudon.

Scotty Pooh was the lone two-year-old winner. Making his first chartered appearance, the As Promised colt did all the roadwork, setting splits of :32.4, 1:05.1 and 1:38 en route to the 2:08.3 mile for driver Don Monkman Jr. Fred Lamont bred and owns the freshman.

Also posting qualifying victories were Caracas (2:10), Empire State (2:06), Barona Grande (2:08.2), Zippy Delivery (2:08.1), Down Home Hammer (2:05.2), and Blue Star Flight (2:09.1).
