Fans were treated to an eight-race program at St Johns Raceway on Monday afternoon, with U S Charmeleon capturing the feature race and trainer Scott Forward constructing a four-win performance.

U S Charmeleon took on seven foes in the Dave MacRoberts Memorial Pace Preferred Handicap, and the gelding was a front-stepping winner in 2:01.4 for driver Scott MacRoberts. The six-year-old son of High On Emotion-Rapidash Mor chopped out splits of :29.2, 1:00.4 and 1:31.1 before using a :30.3 closing quarter to seal the deal by a mere quarter-length margin. Muzzysenglishbaby was next best, with Major Venue rounding out the top three in the featured tilt.

Trainer Kevin McDonald co-owns the pacer with Amy McDonald of Goulds, NL, and together they’ve watch the 10-time winner manufacture a 2-1-2 record from his first six trips to the track this season.

Trainer Scott Forward stole the show on Monday thanks to a four-win performance which included a natural hat trick to start the card. He took the first three races with Dustylane Wildbill (2:11), Hawaiian Belle (2:08.4) and House Of Stuart (2:08) before completing the Grand Slam with Four Brass Starz (2:02) in Race 7.

The conditioner from Goulds, NL now boasts a 13-10-10 record from 74 starts this season, and that translates into a respectable UTR of .295.
