Papa Ray Repeats At Harrington

On the heels of a 1:53.4 score against easier foes one week ago, Papa Ray pushed his winning streak to two-in-a-row thanks to a 1:53.1 triumph in Monday’s $12,500 Open II for pacers at Harrington Raceway.

Papa Ray was a parked-out third at the quarter pole, but he eventually cleared to the top for driver Allan Davis. The odds-on favourite proceeded to lead the group through middle fractions of :56.2 and 1:25 before using a :28.1 closing panel to fend off runner-up Dont Ya Know by a head. Leyden was a fast-closing third in the featured tilt.

Wayne Givens trains the six-year-old son of Village Jolt-Liamatters for Legacy Racing Of De Inc and Reginald Hazzard II. It was the pacer’s fifth win of the season and the 26th of his career. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his cash stash to $432,753.
