On the heels of pulling off an 11-1 surprise in last week’s Preferred Pace at Grand River Raceway, Major Stone returned to the Elora oval and produced an 8-1 upset in the $11,000 featured tilt.

Major Stone, in rein to Robert Shepherd, shot to immediate command from Post 4 and led the field through panels of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:25.1 before using a :28.3 closing quarter to win by 3-1/4 lengths over race favourite Pontiac Luck in 1:53.4. Lookinforadventure rounded out the top three finishers.

Tony O’Sullivan trains the seven-year-old son of Art Major-Jennas Stone for owner Joe Martinelli of Staten Island, NY. It was the pacer’s fourth win of the year and his 20th to date. The lion’s share of the purse lifted his earnings to $315,365.
