Officials with the Little Brown Jug today announced a decision which will change the make-up of the Jugette going

forward.

Effective in 2011, there will be no race-off in the Jugette, which is for three-year-old pacing fillies.

According to a Jug release, the Little Brown Society Board of Directors voted that the winner of the second heat will be the Jugette champion. The board also confirmed that beginning in 2012 the Jugette and Little Brown Jug will be limited to 24 starters.

The release provided no reasoning as to why there will not be a race-off in the Jugette going forward.

Jeff Gural Elected To Jug Board

At its meeting yesterday, the board also elected Jeff Gural of Manhattan, New York to the Little Brown Jug Society. Gural will be replacing the late Robert Davenport of Delaware. Gural owns standardbred farms in New York and Pennsylvania and is chairman and owner of American Racing and Entertainment for Tioga and Vernon Downs.

The Jug Society also re-elected W.D. Tom Thomson as president-treasurer, Tom Wright as vice president, and Phil Terry as secretary.

Phil Terry, general manager and director of marketing for the Delaware, Ohio County Fair, was honoured this morning as the 26th person elected to the Little Brown Jug Wall of Fame.

The ceremonies were held in the Hospitality Pavilion on the fairgrounds. Sam McKee was master of ceremonies.
