An eight-race card brought the curtain down on the 2022 meet at The Track On 2 on Sunday (Sept. 18).
Jessies Girl took the closing-day feature, a $6,000 pace, by a neck in 1:54.1. Mike Hennessy steered the winning five-year-old mare by Badlands Hanover from an off-the-pace trip to nail late leader HF Thegreatpumpkin by a neck. Doug Stout trains the Derek Stout homebred who paid $14.50 to win.
Despite the runner-up finish in the feature, Dave Kelly completed the meet as both the leading trainer and leading driver, and did so with a commanding margin. With two driving wins and one training win on the card, Kelly ends the meet with 34 driving wins and 23 training wins. Brandon Campbell finished second among drivers with 19 wins while Doug Stout finished second among trainers with nine victories.
