A pair of Ohio homebreds captured the two Ohio Breeders Championships Tuesday afternoon at the Delaware County Fair.

Buzzen Troubador won the $25,700 two-year-old colt trot and Contessa Leigh captured the $30,650 two-year-old filly trot.

Buzzen Troubador held off the fast-charging Master Miracle by a nose for Hugh Beatty. Bred, owned and trained by Jack Marsh of Rawson, Ohio, Frozen Troubador took over the lead at the head of stretch to pick up his third victory of the year in a personal best 2:03.1 and returned $17.80, $5.60 and $3.00.

Contessa Leigh, bred, owned, trained and driven by Marty Wollam of Vienna, Ohio led all the way to defeat Diplomats Mistress by two and a half lengths in 2:01. The victory was the filly’s fifth in seven career starts. Contessa Leigh paid $3.00, $2.10 and $2.10.

Ashlees Wedding led from start to finish to give trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. his 83rd Delaware Fair victory in the $10,000 Delaware Open Series. Kayne Kauffman was in the sulky as Ashlees Wedding edged South Side Camie.
