Riccaras Sun Delivers In CDP Feature

Riccaras Sun took over command of the field at the opening quarter and went on to win the Saturday night feature race

, also the first half of the Late Daily Double, in 2:00.4 on sloppy track at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Driver Mike Stevenson sent the Ken MacInnis-owned pacer to the front after Ron Matheson stablemates Olivia Hall (Matheson) and Mighty And Strong (Walter Cheverie) left hard to challenge for the lead. Once in the control, the Trevor Hicken trainee rolled through fractions of :29.4, 1:00.1 and 1:31.1 to hold off a game Mighty And Strong for second and Barrett Jackson (Marc Campbell), who had to rally late, for to finish third.

Riccaras Sun notched his second consecutive victory and sixth of the season in 14 starts.

Hornswoggle and Ron Matheson completed the second half of the Late Daily Double when they won the back-up class in gate to wire fashion in 2:03.2. Patrick Morris of Charlottetown was the winning owner.

The evening's trot division went to Zorgwijk Dlikeher for Corey MacPherson in 2:09.3.
