Sidd Finch continued to solidify his career year at Plainridge Park on Tuesday afternoon (Aug. 8) after winning the $25,000 Winners-Over Handicap Trot.

Drew Campbell got away third with Sidd Finch while Big Al M (Matty Athearn) found his way to the front. As the field trotted in single file, Big Al M breezed through quarters of :28, :57 and 1:24.4 before anyone pulled. That happened as they entered the last turn when Breckenridge (Nick Graffam) left the pocket and Sidd Finch went three-wide around him. When the group hit the stretch, Sidd Finch passed Breckenridge and then collared Big Al M on his way to a three-quarter length win in 1:53.3.

It was the fifth win of the year for Sidd Finch ($20.40) and it pushed his 2023 bankroll to $68,395. Irwin Rosenthal trains the winner for owner Joe Barnard.

The secondary feature was an $18,500 conditioned trot that was won by Echo De Meautis Fr, who made a break at the start before finishing with a flurry. Echo De Meautis Fr (Brett Beckwith) ran right before the gate opened and was taken back to last while Bluffiner (Jordan Derue) hit the point and trotted uncontested to three-quarters in 1:25.2. That is where a now calm and collected Echo De Meautis Fr was mounting a challenge and working his way up the outside towards the leader. The race circled the last turn and when they straightened for home, Echo De Meautis Fr caught Bluffiner and then held off a fast-closing Mr Contestant (Matty Athearn) to win by one-half length in 1:55.

Echo De Meautis Fr ($5.20) went over $85,000 in earnings this year on the strength of his seventh win for owners Archie Mc Neil and Joshua Jay Graber. Melissa Beckwith was the winning trainer.

Six racing participants scored two wins during the card on Tuesday including drivers Brett Beckwith, Bruce Ranger, Nick Graffam and Wally Watson and trainers Lisa Watson and George Ducharme.

Live racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Thursday (Aug. 10) at 4 p.m.
