Last Bet Swoops Rivals In Northville Open

Last Bet and driver Marc St. Louis Jr. captured the Northville Downs Saturday night feature in 1:53.4, defeating Admiral Adam by 1-3/4 lengths. 

Early leaders Lyons Friends (Kody Massey) and Admiral Adam (Justin Irvine) put up fractions of :27.1 and :56.1, when Commander Bob (David Lake) came first-up, towing Panther Time (Art McIlmurray) and Magic Shark (Kim Pluta) second and third over, respectively, while Last Bet moved fourth over from last to join the fray in the $9,500 Open Handicap Pace. As they accelerated to three-quarters in 1:24.2, the front-runners began to tire and Last Bet stormed up on the far outside to get up for the impressive worst-to-first score. Admiral Adam settled for second while Lyons Friends hung on for third. 

Last Bet (pictured above) earned his 16th career win and pushed his earnings to nearly $160,000. The five-year-old Bettors Delight-West Of L A gelding is trained by Danielle St. Louis and owned by Stacey Currie. 

In the $9,500 Open 2 Pace, Oh K Man dropped in class and went coast-to-coast in 1:54.2. The nine-year-old son of Western Ideal-Armbro Amour set fractions in :27.1, :56 and 1:24.3 to three-quarters while shaking off all challengers en route to the six-length victory. Western Drive (David Lake) closed well for second and Rockin Rusty (Skip De Mull) got up for third.

For Oh K Man, it was career victory number 47. He is owned by Julie Neil and trained by Danielle St. Louis. 

Marc St. Louis Jr.  had a driving triple on the night, while trainer Danielle St. Louis had a double on the card.

Racing at The Ville resumes on Friday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. Friday night is dollar night featuring $1 live programs, $1 pop and popcorn, $2 hot dogs and beer and hamburger and cheeseburger specials.
