Rojan Stables, L A Express Stable, Allan Kaplan and Howard Taylor’s Hes Spooky made his first career start over a half-mile track a winning one Wednesday with a 1:57 triumph for driver Jon Roberts in the featured $18,000 Open Trot at Harrington Raceway.

The Mike Hall-trained Hes Spooky, who was sent off as the 4-5 choice, left alertly from post six and set fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:28.2 with Allmar Surprise in the pocket heading into the stretch. Hes Spooky required only minimal urging in the stretch to fight off Allmar Surprise’s charge down the passing lane. A fast-closing Sea Raven was third.

It was the first start for Hes Spooky for new conditioner Hall as he picked up his fifth win of the year.

Driver George Dennis had four winners on the program.
