Who better to handicap the $10,000 Xtreme Pick 4 than Dan Clements, Anthony MacDonald and J.R. Plante, three of the top drivers in the history of Xtreme Horsepower?

With races from a standing start, going the other direction or varied distances, it's not your typical Pick 4. Norm Borg has enlisted the services of top drivers Dan Clements, Anthony MacDonald and J. R. Plante to provide their expertise and insight into handicapping Xtreme Horsepower.

Does post position a factor in a race longer than a mile? Shorter than a mile? Is the 18 hole better than the 10 hole? How do you pick out a good horse in a standing start race?

On today's Trot Radio, the drivers answers these questions and more. MacDonald gives us the best spot to start in the Xtreme Dash for the Cash, while Clements singles out Eagle Artisan, a 10-1 morning line pick that he feels is a surefire winner in the first leg. Plante is also extremely confident in one of his longer-distance starters. To hear the full interview with Borg and the Xtreme Horsepower drivers, click on the play button below.

With a $10,000 guarantee, the Xtreme Pick 4 at Georgian Downs will offer the biggest multi-leg betting opportunity in the history of the Innisfil, Ontario racetrack.

Saturday’s Xtreme Pick 4, which is sponsored by Standardbred Canada and Georgian Downs, starts in race four and covers the following races:

Race 4 - 18 horse 1 5/8 mile Xtreme Challenge
Race 5 – 9 horses 1 ¼ mile Xtreme Rewind
Race 6 – 9 horse 1/8 mile Xtreme Dash For The Cash
Race 7 – 15 horse 2 ½ mile Xtreme Classic

Because of the extended field sizes, the bet offers customers a total of 21,870 possible combinations, versus the standard 6,561 possible combinations for a wager with nine horses in each race. Combined with the $10,000 Guarantee, the chance of a big payout is very likely.

For customers on track and at most simulcast locations, the minimum bet for the Xtreme Pick 4 is just 20 cents. That means, for example, that for just $16.20 invested, a horseplayer could choose three horses in each of the four Pick 4 races.

As for the Return On Investment (ROI), consider this: In the past four editions of Xtreme Horsepower, the amount wagered into the Pick 4 pools has been the following:

2010: Total Pool - $3,126
2009: Total Pool - $3,829
2008: Total Pool - $2,159
2007: Total Pool - $3,627

With a guaranteed pool, the 2011 bet promises to be a wonderful betting opportunity.

Take note, the Xtreme program of harness racing starts at 6:00 p.m, with fourth race post time scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m.
