Bring A Friend Weekend Continues

Published: August 24, 2013 10:51 am EDT

After successful nights to kick off the Bring A Friend National Challenge weekend at Grand River Raceway in Elora and Yorkton's Cornerstone Raceway, ten more Canadian racetracks will partner with SC members and industry participants to showcase harness racing and provide the VIP Experience for potential new racing fans in the Bring A Friend Promotion.

Fraser Downs, Alberta Downs, Clinton Raceway, Hanover Raceway, Mohawk Racetrack, Georgian Downs, Northside Downs, Exhibition Park and Raceway, Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown and Summerside will all be taking part on Saturday or Sunday.

Many of the guests will have the opportunity to enjoy rides in the starting gate car, paddock tours and winner’s circle presentations – those behind the scenes experiences that most of our fans don’t have the chance to take part in.

Meet and Greet events will connect our guests with our drivers and beginner handicapping workshops will help to teach them the basics in reading a program and in making a bet.

Free programs, tip sheets, and free $2 bets will help them get involved in the racing experience.

Some of the tracks are adding even more to the mix. Here are a few other highlights:

Saturday, August 24

  • Mohawk Racetrack features an action packed Stakes card with eliminations for the Metro Pace, She’s A Great Lady and the Canadian Pacing Derby on Saturday, August 24.

  • Willie Win will be on track to meet and greet guests at Exhibition Park and Raceway on Saturday, August 24.

Sunday, August 25

  • Clinton Raceway in partnership with REACH HURON is celebrating everything horsey! There will be a Miniature Horse Race, the Super Sunday Show and tons more on Sunday, August 25.

Now it’s up to us, the membership and industry participants to drive this event - promote this, invite our friends and get them out to the track!

You don’t have to register to take part but it is appreciated if you can. We have set up a centralized registration area to help gauge the number of guests for each track. When you register, you will be asked for your name, email, postal code, # of guests you are bringing and the track you will be visiting. Print off the VIP Pass and bring it to the registration desk at the track and you will be entered into a draw to win from $300 in prizes. The deadline to register is noon on Thursday.
