Fashion Frenzie Takes Earl Rowe Memorial Invitational Trot

The $100,000 Honourable Earl Rowe Memorial Trot headlined Sunday (Aug. 20) evening's harness racing card at Georgian Downs and millionaire Free For Aller Fashion Frenzie honoured his role as the race favourite with a three-length achievement.

A dense field of talent went to the gate in the evening's feature race with eight trotters lined up on the wings. Longshot Franks Angel (Jason Ryan) secured the early lead, followed by favoured Fashion Frenzie (Louis-Philippe Roy), while three went off stride around the first turn. Franks Angel took his competitors to the first panel in :27 before Fashion Frenzie popped out and went around to take command. Fashion Frenzie clicked out two more panels in :56.2 and 1:25 before using a :28 last quarter to win by three lengths in 1:53. Oney Hall (Trevor Henry) took second and Warrawee Xenia (Bob McClure) rounded out the top three.

Richard Moreau trains the career winner of $1,085,431 from a record of 22-5-0 in 34 starts for the ownership group of Ecurie Francis Richard Inc., Mario Bourgea, Pierre Guillemette and Sylvain Richard. This season, the five-year-old Archangel-Striking Fashion gelding has posted a record of 4-2-0 in six starts with $129,500 banked. Fashion Frenzie paid $2.50 to win.

On the undercard, The Ballykeel Deal won the first Prospect Series split of the evening and took home the winner's share of the $8,500 purse.

The Ballykeel Deal (Tyler Borth) left from the center of the field, but Its Sally Deal (Daryl Thiessen) took the lead going to the quarter in :29. Borth pulled The Ballykeel Deal around Its Sally Deal and handed out two more panels in :59 and 1:28.3 en route to a 2-1/2-length victory in 1:58.2. Its Sally Deal finished second with favoured April Duford (Trevor Henry) taking third.

Katie MacNeil trains the three-year-old Wheeling N Dealin filly for Ballykeel Racing Inc. as she picked up her second win this season.

Savannahs Dream led gate-to-wire to take her $8,500 Prospect Series division for trainer and driver Bruce Richardson.

Savannahs Dream left from post two in the field scratched down to three, took the lead and kept going as she posted panels in :31.3, 1:03 and 1:32.4. With a :29.4 final quarter, Savannahs Dream won by 1-1/2 lengths in 2:02.3. Angelic Kt (Brett MacDonald) was second with Angeliki (Bob McClure) third.

Richardson co-owns the Archangel daughter with Joseph Coffey and Peter Irwin as she earned her third win this season.
