The wins came early and they came often for driver Scott Coulter during Wednesday’s 12-race program at Flamboro Downs.

Coulter, who trails only Scott Zeron in the driving colony at Flamboro Downs in 2011, racked up five wins over the course of the afternoon including a gate-to-wire score in the opener with the Jim Koelln-trained Ideal Reel (1:58.4).

Arts Mac (1:58.3) towed the Brantford, Ontario horseman to his second win on the program in Race 6, and he tacked on victories with Pete The Chief (2:03.3) in Race 7, This Flite Tonight (1:59.1) in Race 9 and Heartland Icicle (1:55.3) in the finale.

Coulter is quickly closing in on significant milestone. Wednesday’s five-win performance leaves him just 37 wins away from joining the 3,000-win club. He has racked up more than $19 million in purse earnings in his career.
